1 Dendrobium 'Jaquelyn Thomas' West Makaleha off of trail up to Three Points exclosure Growing as epiphyte next to Polystachya concreta on nearly dead Antidesma platyphylla. Preserved_Specimen Roy Tokunaga IDed it as a hybrid of Dendrobium Jaquelyn Thomas. Kawelo, K. 235 Oahu BISH 2011-10-13
2 Dendrobium 'Jaquelyn Thomas' Kahuku Training Area, north of Opana access road. In open, sunny area. Associated vegetation: canopy of Casuarina and Schinus terebinthifolius, but no canopy within 15 m; understory of Osteomeles anthyllidifolia, Phymatosorus grossus, Wikstroemia oahuensis, Schinus, Casuarina, non-native grasses Preserved_Specimen Single mature plant, no seedlings seen. Naturalized. Terrestrial, rooted on rock, ca 1 m tall canelike stems; single plantlet seen growing off a stem. Leaves 2-ranked. Flowers vibrant purple, 5+ sprays, with pleasant, faint scent. Fruit 2-4 cm long, plump, green. Plant was flowering abundantly. Seemed like an unusual location for this type of orchid: very exposed and sunny. Dendrobium-like flowers and general appearance. Could have been in an orchid show, it was so spectacular. Beachy, J. 449 Oahu BISH 2016-07-28
